Symphony of the Mountains, Voices of the Mountains and Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy to present Wellmont Holiday Concert Saturday, December 4, 2010, 3 PM at Toy F. Reid Employee Center in Kingsport, TN.

Symphony of the Mountains, Voices of the Mountains, and Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy will present A Mountain Holiday, Saturday, December 4, 2010, 3 PM at Toy F. Reid Employee Center in Kingsport, TN. Symphony of the Mountains, under the direction of Conductor Cornelia Laemmli, will perform holiday favorites, such as O Holy Night, Sleigh Ride, White Christmas and John Rutter’s Gloria. Joining SOTM are Voices of the Mountains, directed by Dr. W. Patrick Flannagan, and Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy, directed by Jane DeLoach Morison.

Clark Parker, vocal director of Kingsport’s Showtime, will be the featured soloist on O Holy Night. The program also includes selections from local composers Maria Niederberger and Kenton Coe. Swiss composer Maria Niederberger, an ETSU faculty member, shares two of her creations: Schlittle (“Sledding”) and With Song and Trumpet Calls. Symphony and guests will also perform Carols from the Appalachian Mountains, written by Tennessee native Kenton Coe. Both Niederberger and Coe will be present to hear our musicians celebrate their masterpieces.

Following the Wellmont Holiday Concert, join us in the lobby for cookies, punch and pictures with special guest, Santa Claus.
