Outdoor Concerts Draw Huge Crowds

For the third year in a row, Symphony of the Mountains has performed outdoor concerts in July and, for the third year in a row, we’ve been lucky enough to have beautiful weather!

Our first concert was Symphony by the Lake at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, NC. Sponsored by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, this was our third year playing this event and each year is better. There was a little bit of rain early in the afternoon, but by sunset the skies had cleared and the night was cool and breezy. So breezy in fact that the orchestra had to use extra pins to keep their music sheets on the stands! So it goes when you’re performing outdoors.

Saturday evening we played again on the lawn by the lake at UVa Wise in Wise, VA. This free concert was made possible by a partnership with the Marcia and Marvin Gilliam, Jr. Foundation, Pro-Art and, or course, UVa Wise. This time there wasn’t a drop of rain and the skies were clear and blue and beautiful. We had a great crowd and a few special guests for the evening; Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck!

With all the hard work that went into these concerts, we all had a wonderful time. The audiences were pleased and it was a wonderful night!
