Youth Orchestra Concert

Post

The Youth Orchestra’s Fall Concert will be on November 8th, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Eastman Auditorium.  It will feature Tchaikovsky’s “March Slav,” the first movement of Schubert’s “Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished)”, Rossini’s “Barber of Seville Overture”, Bizet’s “Carmen Suite No. 1”, and selections from the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera.

The members of the Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra and Primo Strings are selected by audition in August.  They meet weekly for rehearsal during the academic year and perform one concert each semester.  On November 9th, the Youth Orchestra will also present a “Youth for Youth” concert for area school children.

Last year, there were over 100 students in the Youth Orchestra program, representing eight area high schools, numerous middle schools, private schools, elementary schools, as well as students from home education.  Students in both Youth Orchestra and Primo Strings are presented with challenging music to provide musical growth and a stimulating learning experience.

We hope you’ll mark your calendar and join us for a fantastic afternoon of music performed by the hard-working and talented musicians of the Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra and Primo Strings programs.
