Kingsport, TN – Symphony of the Mountains opens its 2017-2018 Season with the wildly popular Summer Concert Series

This year’s Summer Concerts theme is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” with a whimsical Dr. Seuss theme. It includes fun, eclectic and dynamic music from Hollywood soundtracks, light classical and patriotic favorites.

Our special guest artist is the world-famous recording artist from Celtic Thunder, Emmet Cahill. This 26 year old tenor hails from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland and began his musical career in piano at the tender age of 5.

Since then, Cahill has won numerous awards and scholarships including being named ‘Irish tenor of the Year’ by the Irish American Music association in 2013. Emmet studied at the prestigious Royal Irish Academy of Music and earned his B.A. in Music Performance.

In 2011, Emmet began touring with the international Irish music group, Celtic Thunder. Over the years he has enjoyed touring with the group throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. Emmet has appeared on many radio and TV shows such as PBS, QVC, the Today Show, and by special invitation for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

After an extensive 72-city tour of the United States and Canada with Celtic Thunder in 2016, Emmet is resuming his solo career in 2017 with tours throughout the United States and Canada. He is also due to make his debut to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2018.

He recently signed a major recording contract with Sony Music USA and released his debut solo album, “Emmet Cahill’s Ireland”. Comprised of beloved Irish classics and folk tunes from the countryside, it features Cahill accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. The album debuted at #1 on the World Music Billboard Charts.
