L’amour toujours Valentine’s Concert

Highlighting the beauty of the Symphony of the Mountains, Concertmaster Sean Claire and Principal French Horn player Jeffery Whaley will be featured as soloists in this romantic Valentine’s concert. Make this Valentine’s Day a night to remember for you and that special someone.

From Bach to the Future

This year’s Voices of the Mountains concert will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and will explore music from Johann Sebastian Bach as well as some of the lesser known Bach’s such as Johann Christoph Friedrich, Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach and the satirical Peter Schickele as P.D.Q. Bach. All of the music is tuneful and entertaining, yet unique in character to each composer.

Holiday Concert in Abingdon with Carl Tanner

Join Symphony of the Mountains, Voices of the Mountains, Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy and Mountain Mission School Choir as we welcome back world-famous tenor Carl Tanner. After his Kingsport debut in the 12/13 Season, Carl Tanner fell in love with our area and will return to perform for both Holiday Concerts.

Youth Orchestra Fall Concert

The Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra (SMYO) recruits, trains and rehearses youth from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. It is the only auditioned, regional symphonic youth orchestra within 90 miles of Kingsport. The Youth Orchestra will perform three free concerts during the 2013-2014 season, two in the fall and one in the spring.

This event is free to the public and tickets are not required.

Mary B. Martin Family Concert

These highly interactive concerts will delight both young and old as they unveil the “mysteries” of musical performance through hands-on experiences. Prior to the concert, audience members will have the opportunity to build their own instruments from everyday items. The afternoon will conclude with an Instrument Petting Zoo where all of our patrons are welcome to meet our musicians as they give an up-close and hands-on demonstration of their instruments.
